There are many styles of water beds to choose from when a consumer is in the market for beds. When an average person thinks of water beds, automatically the person thinks of the water filled mattress. Another choice is the regular outline mattress with water filled tubes filling the middle of the bed. No matter which water beds are being compared there are several disadvantages to sleeping in water beds.
The first disadvantage is the weight of water beds. Water filled mattresses are very heavy, if the home that holds the water bed is not made of the best structure there can be terrible results of owning water beds. One is typically, the floor will not hold the weight and the bed could fall through the floor causing a terrible mess.
Another disadvantage is in the event of a leak. For many reasons a water filled mattress water bed can spring a leak, resulting in water everywhere. Water filled mattress water beds hold a large amount of water. Cats are ranked number one for the cause of a water bed springing an unexpected leak. If the hole is rather small, most water bed mattresses are designed to allow the water to escape at a reduced rate leaving noticeable evidence on the bedding.
Another disadvantage of owning and sleeping in water beds on a daily basis, is the extreme amount of work changing the bedding. Unlike normal hospital cornered bed sheets, water bed sheets are sewn at the bottom and usually require two people to complete the bedding transfer, which can be a royal pain in the butt for the independent individual. Hanging the clean bedding on the clothesline to dry can also be a disadvantage because of the extreme amount of room on the clothesline this bedding takes.
